Oh dear friends!
I'm off to Montreal on Saturday for what can only be described as 'undoubtedly delightful yet distinguishly dangerous' Bachelorette party for a dear friend of mine.
The official wedding shower consisted of a lovely sit down lunch complete with gift opening and games. Just peachy!
The after-shower was a pole-dancing penis-cake classic gong show (all while absolutely sober no less). I've been tempted to display the famous cake on the blog however, it's AMAZINGLY anatomically correct and therefore would be considered 'inappropriate material", and I'm a lady. In your spare time, think air-brushed colour, wrinkles in the right places, and by golly one's hanging lower than the other.
This go around, add in the first class train, b-y-o-champagne, lounge wear and belly laughs - and you only have prior to noon on saturday my friends! There will loads of shopping, an all you can eat meat restaurant (www.lemilsa.com), and topped off with VIP service at Club 1234, and Altitude 737 (www.promoclub737.com), for us 10 lovelies.
One can only guess of the events to come, but what I do know is this: pictures will be edited severely and limitations will be posed for whichever photo makes its way onto the alarmingly public facebook. Google yourself, your picture may just appear, hence why us public servants will not post the penis-cake-holding-pole-dancing pictures online! Ever! But you can IMAGINE the giggles, the burns and the bruises. I have a new found respect for the pole dancer, care of the attempt of the stripper push-up.

Wish me good luck/bonne chance, as I will need it. We head to Montreal on Saturday, and come back on Sunday, while 2 of us will be departing to other provinces for work on Monday. Oh, mon dieu! I will be tired.

Oh monetary JOY!
As I state in my 'bio', I love my job despite technicalities...... those technicalities have been ammended! YAY!
Count my lucky stars today, I've had a brilliant day. My highlights thus follows:
1. I drove the should-have-been-45-minute-commute to work today for the first time, picked up a starbucks, and the drive was smoothe sailing at 30 minutes. Beauty.
2. My work has a slightly yet incredibly inefficient compensation department, where I was previously owed pay for 78 days out of my current 90 day contract. (just imagine that total figure). I have been fighting hard to receive that, as my email .pst files will prove.
As I believe I've built up enough suspension, the conclusion to that issue is that I finally received my backpay!!! HURRAY! with 3 days left in the contract.. they made it. lol. Off to the bank I go. It was apparent by the tears that fell, how much stress I was holding just waiting for that cheque.
3. I went to the Gap today and purchased 6 summery-fun items, all for under $100.
4. RIB FEST IN OTTAWA! I reccomend going to "crabby's'' or the one beside it with the blue signs, and getting the pulled pork sandwhich. deliciously saucy.
5. Buying people birthday presents makes me smile :) {especially now that I can afford to}
Hopefully more highlites to add as my day continues to my final french class, and a beer with my sister in a country bar with a band, and my first day off in 4 months tomorrow! (only to pack up my current house).
Things can only look up.

Good news for the Rideau Center in Ottawa
Good news everyone. Since Carrie Underwood has graced the Rideau Center with her presence, caused People Magazine to deem this mall as 'up-scale', we've seen the mom-stores go and designers arrive.
I couldn't tell you what's left the mall, I probably didn't shop there. But, the majority of the 'mom' stores have gone elsewhere as well. HOWEVER ladies and gentlemen, big news. After seeing the Calvin Klein underwear store arrive and everyone wonder 'why not the jeans'... two better stores are scheduled to be installed in our up-scale mall.
Zara and... da da da.. Marc Jacobs. I will now hold off on purchasing my Coach purse I said I would buy when I got permanent in my job (I'm on a term contract), in order to invest in a March Jacobs bag. Or shoes. I haven't decided.
I am OK with Zara, and not H&M - for now. Zara seems to have better material in their cheapo-s.
These stores will more than likely take months to install so in the meantime, I will continue to read this blog to do my choosing.

"Kids on the Hill"
An article was recently published in the Ottawa Citizen, titled "Kids on the Hill". It refers to the number of young adults working in high-level, high-paid positions, with the wonder of how they have gained enough experience to actually qualify for the job. (For example, 26 y/o Jasmine Macdonnell - Minister Lisa Raitt's 'director of communications', who oddly enough has family ties to the Ignatieff campaign). Well, an argument was made that the majority of the Kids on the Hill had in fact, graduated with a masters degree, or even a law degree by the time they were 23.
True. However - I've draftd my own message to these kids as their 'letter of offer' for these high-level, high-paid positions.
"So congratulations you're hired - your salary is around.. oh.. $120,000! YAY! But don't spend it all in one place, don't get a massive mortgage because elections can be called (and often threatened) bi-annually, and you'll be canned. Don't leave your papers and/or tech equipment in bathrooms and/or news stations, or you'll be canned. And don't forget as well that at any time we'll drop you to an IS-03 in DFAIT if you seem just slightly more 'liberal' than usual".
I'm quite content now with my little job where climbin the ladder through competitions, and working hard will get you where you should be - not just want to be. And getting canned is definitely your fault, and hard to do.

TV casts
Do you watch TV as often as I do? Well I can't help it... I love TV. I also love imdb because I hate recognizing random actors and can't fit them with memory recall.
For instance just now, I watched some show called 'mental' ? Never heard of it either....... However the girl in the show with short brown hair is driving me nuts because I want to say she's from breaker high? Or some teen dream show. Anyways, imdb has failed me and there goes the point of this post.

"Life" Changes
Ever sit around and ponder how things have evolved as they have?
Think about it.
I hope for your sake you look at your life, and not at your ass. But let's be serious - that's changed a LOT in just the past few years.
OMG my lady friends, OMG.
Remeber being 18, and eating whatever you wanted wouldn't change a thing..... and then one day, and I'm serious, only a few years later, you can look backwards and say, "Oh, that's new". And then a few years after that you say, "WTF.........*sigh* this is how its gunna be".
It's become evident that more things will change.
Think that one over.

Quelle surprise!
To recognize the effots of public service employees in Public Affairs, an annual awards ceremoney is held.
There were refreshments, goodies, handshakes and more.
I am recently new to the world of public service, having about eight months under my belt. I'm what you'd perhaps call a 'recent grad', although I received my BA three years ago, and a post-grad certificate in Comms two years ago...... the last year was spent bartending and desperately seeking real world work.
Myself, and the team I work with, were this year's recipients (SO very much deserved.. hurray!). And as our reward we get to choose from a rather large list of things - things that range from kitchen supplies, jewellery, and random 'handy' things.
My choice, yet to be confirmed, is this fab espresso/cappucino machine - hoping it will limit my starbucks cafe misto purchasing. All I'll need now is that yum vanilla syrup and the travel mug that looks like the white carboard cup!
Happy faux-starbucks-ing.
